About the Club

Fenland Archery Club was founded in September 2006 by 10 like-minded
local
archers with a goal of addressing the need for a premier quality
archery experience in Whittlesey,
East
Peterborough and
surrounding areas. Since its inception, the club has grown in size to
over 50
members and continues to grow year on year.
The club has a stated aim of promoting archery in all its forms and
is the
only club with dual Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) and National
Field
Archery Society (NFAS) membership in the Cambridgeshire area. Members
are
active in shooting both target and field archery competitions
throughout the
year. The club has a number of GNAS licensed coaches who can assist
with
developing your shooting.
Despite being a relatively young club, members have been very successful in local and regional competitions, winning both the East Anglian and Cambridgeshire titles in both longbow and recurve disciplines.
Members shoot all common bow types including recurve, compound, flatbow, English longbow and Mongolian bows although the dominant bow styles are recurve, longbow and compound.
Members of the club are active in both the local and greater
Cambridgeshire
communities in support of charities, local clubs and schools and are
currently the only local club to offer
coaching by Archery GB licensed coaches.
Our Equipment officer Paul
Attwood is supporting the Mary Rose trust in its attempt to raise money
to give the Nation a world-class museum and to preserve for future
generations this extraordinary ship and all her treasures. The
long period of spraying will come to an end in 2011 and the hull will
be slowly dried out with conservation completed in 2016. The public
will then enjoy a much closer, fully illuminated look at the
ship. Over 14,000 of the artefacts will be displayed , shown
in their original positions and in relation to their owners, presenting
a vivid illustration of life on board a Tudor warship. You can make a
donation here. To learn more about the Mary Rose
